The GTA’s top green residential building professionals to advise homeowners on latest in green residential building, March 8-17, 2024

(Toronto, ON) - The GTA’s leading experts in residential green building will be at the National Home Show to share with homeowners the why and how-to of sustainable building. Architects, builders, suppliers and academics are collaborating through the Green Building Learning Zone (GBLZ) which, for the first time, will be featured at the National Home Show, taking place March 8-10 and March 13-17 at the Enercare Centre, Exhibition Place.

The Green Building Learning Zone will:
-  Occupy a 1200+ square foot area at the heart of the National Home Show
-  Offer one-on-one consultations to visitors
-  Feature green building materials and resources, and introduce exciting innovations
-  Present hourly panel discussions by notable/award-winning green building experts

The daily presentations at the GBLZ stage will walk homeowners through everything from the house-as-a-system approach and Passive Houses, to energy audits and cost-effective minor home improvements.

Wednesday March 13th from 11am to 6pm is when the GBLZ takes over the National Home Show’s Main Stage with a unique lineup of speakers who are all experts in their fields. Speaker lineup is here - https://www.greenbuildinglearningzone.org/events

“You can call the Green Building Learning Zone a No-Greenwashing Zone,” says Chris Phillips, Founder and President of Greening Homes Ltd., one of GBLZ’s founding members. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for homeowners who are considering or planning a renovation, building a custom home, or for anyone just seeking real, expert green building advice – without a sales pitch.”

Background: The Green Building Learning Zone (GBLZ) first came together in 2019 at the Green Living Show.

In March 2023, Blue Ant Media, the new showrunner of the National Home Show, reached out to long-time exhibitors such as Greening Homes for ideas on how to refresh and reboot Canada’s largest home show post pandemic.

After the Green Living Show folded, the GBLZ was looking for a new home. Chris Phillips pitched it to Blue Ant Media, which enthusiastically agreed to feature it at the 2024 National Home Show.
